FIRST GENERATION

1. Silas LESLIE was born about 1774 in South Carolina. He died about 1852 in Wilkinson County, Georgia. Silas Leslie was in the war of 1812. Information from the National Archives on his military service shows his name spelled LASLIE. Later when he applies for bounty land he has his name corrected to LESLIE. However, his son George Jackson Lesley spelled his name LESLEY. That is the way the name has been spelled down to the present generation.

He was married to Bethany TISON (daughter of James TISON II and Mary [NO LAST]) about 1801 in Prob. Georgia. Silas LESLIE and Bethany TISON had the following children:

2 i. Rebecca LESLIE was born about 1805 in Georgia.
3 ii. Kizzie LESLIE was born about 1808 in Georgia.
4 iii. Sarah LESLIE was born about 1810 in Georgia.
5 iv. Rachel LESLIE was born about 1812 in Georgia.
6 v. Sybil (Sibby) LESLIE was born on 18 Dec 1814 in Georgia. She died on 17 Jan 1880 in Wilkinson County, Georgia. She was buried in Sanders Family Cemetery.
+7 vi. George Jackson LESLEY.
8 vii. Silas LESLIE was born about 1820 in Wilkinson County, Georgia.
9 viii. Joel LESLIE was born about 1822 in Wilkinson County, Georgia. He died in 1823.
10 ix. Bethany LESLIE was born on 4 Jul 1826 in Wilkinson County, Georgia. She died on 30 Apr 1892 in Wilkinson County, Georgia. Family tradition says there were thirteen children and that Bethany was the youngest. Only nine have been loacted.
